Turn your Room Thermostat down by 1 degree Celsius
You shouldn't feel any difference in the rooms but will save approximately £80 a year on heating bills.
Improve the performance of radiators
Sometimes the old tips are still the best ones - wrap baking foil over a piece of hardboard and fasten behind your radiator to bounce the heat into the room not the wall behind
Time your heating
Don't heat the property when you are not in, set your heating to mirror the times you are in your home
Close doors and turn off lights in rooms not in use and if you have TRVs on radiators turn them down
Dont waste heat on heating area of your home not in use - however do not turn the heating off in these rooms as it may lead to condensation on colder walls
Don't dry washing on radiators
By putting washing over radiators you block the heat being convected from them as it heats the clothes first, also you are adding further water vapour into the air. Stand a washing frame in the room to dry the clothes and monitor for any condensation and if necessary use a disposable dehumidifier
